"Política, Economía y Cultura en la Sudamérica del Nuevo Siglo", Buenos Aires, December 26th, 2008 – January 6th, 2009.
The course has been designed for people interested in Latin America, who seek to learn about (or to enhance their knowledge about) central issues of South American Politics, Economy and Culture in the beginning of the 21st Century. It will be led by specialists in each area, both in an intensive and in a dynamic way.
In addition to this, the University of Bologna offers you the possibility of maximizing your visit to its Buenos Aires Campus, by taking part in a touristic and cultural programme. It will give you the opportunity of getting to know much more about the Argentine culture and territory as well as enjoying an unforgettable experience.
The opening of the course will require the enrollment of a minimum of candidates, to be determined by the Buenos Aires Campus of the University of Bologna.
- Offering a first approach to the study of South American Politics, Economy and Culture in the New Century, focusing on specific national case-studies such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Venezuela.
- Offering an excellent opportunity of combining your academic or professional interests with the cultural and touristic enjoyment of Buenos Aires city and its sorroundings.
The course will be held in the Buenos Aires Campus of the University of Bologna, from December 26th, 2008 to January 6th, 2009. It will be taught in Spanish.
The course will be organized in four modules: South American Politics, Security, Economy and Culture and it will also include three conferences about different aspects related to the Academic and Cultural Programme: "Political Institutions and Economic Performance in Latin America"; "Literature and Music in Latin America: Tango" and "Politics, Economy and Culture in South America" (Closing Conference).
Each module will last 10 hours, divided into two days; while the conferences will last approximately 2 hours each. The lessons will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays, from 2.00 to 7.00 PM; and the conferences will be lectured during the mornings, from 10.00 to 12.00 AM.
Requirements
The course is addressed to students as well as non-students that seek to learn about or to enhance their knowledge about South American Politics, Economy and Culture.
No specific qualifications are required to take the course.
No students who are aged under 18 are admitted.
Attendance Certificate
In order to get the Course Attendance Certificate, you will be required to participate in a minimum of 75% of the lessons and conferences.
Cultural programme
The cultural programme includes recreational and touristic activities and outings in Buenos Aires city and its sorroundings, during some of the mornings, the afternoons and the days free of academic activities.
This programme includes New Year's Eve at Madero Tango, one of the most elegant and acclaimed tango shows in Buenos Aires.
